Publishing Project Manager

Advantage | ForbesBooks has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager with expertise and experience in book publishing. Advantage works with top tier business professionals to position, promote, and market them as the thought leader and expert in their industry, community, or marketplace.

The mission for the Project Manager (PM) is to coordinate, plan, and manage the publishing process for clients writing and publishing a book with us. The PM serves is the responsible party for delivering high quality publishing services on time and on budget. The PM will be responsible for managing the production pipeline and be part of a team that will deliver 100 books annually. Success will be reflected by a client’s publication date being met and their Net Promoter Score (NPS).

The outcomes expected of this individual are:

  • Serve as the project manager and lead the completion of 100 book projects annually for your vertical. Our c-level clients require precise execution of the deliverables in their publishing plan. You will organize, plan and manage the execution of deliverables, including editorial, design, printing, and distribution. This requires excellent communication skills and an ability to manage changes in timing, budget and scope.
  • Ensure >95% of publishing plans are delivered at or below budget. Manage client budgets and report for your account team. Each publishing plan client has a gross margin target for all deliverables. Coordinate the resources of your account team, track and monitor internal hours spent and external costs.
  • Ensure >95% of publishing plans are delivered on time to client. Manage the prioritization and workflow of all projects to ensure target timelines can be achieved. Communicate client details internally and externally to ensure projects are delivered on time.
  • Assist Publishing team in retaining and engaging clients. Provide back end support to your account team in delivering an “Enjoyable, Fun, and Prosperous Membership experience.” Success will be reflected by a client’s Net Promoter Score and referrals.

Preferred Skills and Experiences:

  • Must have PASSION for Project Management. A proven track record of success in managing projects is a MUST
  • Must be EXTREMELY detail oriented, able to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Must be resourceful and able to overcome obstacles on his/her own
  • Superior communication skills, including written and verbal
  • Flexibility to change and adapt to new processes, with a problem-solving mindset
  • 4-year degree required. Publishing experience a plus.
