Social Media Content Writer

Content Writers create engaging, relevant and targeted content to position, promote and market Authority Institute Members as thought leaders and experts in their industry, community or marketplace. These writers are primarily responsible for developing long-form content across multiple mediums and channels, including blogs, websites, e-newsletters and more.

These individuals work closely with Institute Account Teams - and often Members - to understand program goals and objectives, to ensure that all content is in keeping with the brand, and consistent with the voice of the Member. It is the responsibility of the Content Writer to then research further, build and deliver high-quality, accurate marketing and/or editorial material according to established expectations and timelines.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Greater than 95% of on-time deliverables to team.
  • Greater than 95% editorial excellence, meaning content is free from typos and appropriately captures Member’s voice throughout.
  • Work closely with marketing team to ensure content is aligned with member strategy.
  • Utilize the skills and understanding on how to manage the priorities of multiple stakeholders in a complex environment and focus on the delivery of results in the form of engagement and leads.
  • Content writing time logged in Workfront software 100% of the time.

Requirements:

  • Collaborates with assigned Account Teams to define and deliver professionally-written, relevant content to support Institute Members’ marketing programs.
  • Basic SEO understanding, content categorization and optimization, content development, distribution and measurement.
  • Development of editorial governance so content is consistent with required brand voice, style and tone.
  • Research of ideas and facts pertinent to content to be developed.
  • Maintains a keen understanding of and stays up to date on the latest trends/news in assigned verticals/industries to ensure content resonates with target markets.
  • Develops engaging and strategic content for websites, blogs, e-newsletters, whitepapers, and other media as needed.
  • Assists in developing short-form content (social media posts, etc.) as needed.
  • Proofread content for errors and ensure it meets all quality controls.
  • Ensure all writing adhere to Chicago Manual editorial standards.
  • Work with Project Managers to ensure work is delivered on time and on budget.
  • Measurement, reporting of results and optimization of content is required on a regular basis.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Marketing/Communications or related field of study.
  • Experience with consistent content creation as an editor or journalist.
  • Experience working as an editor or writer with a publication including both online and print versions a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience as a professional writer. Experience in B2B space is a plus.
  • Experience with WordPress, Google analytics and basic understanding of SEO.
