Project Editor

Advantage Media Group and ForbesBooks have an exciting opportunity for a Project Editor with experience in book writing and editing. ForbesBooks works with top tier business professionals to position, promote, and market them as the thought leader and expert in their industry, community, or marketplace.

The mission of the Project Editor (PE) is to take a client participating in our Talk Your Book program from an outline to a final draft of a manuscript ready for copyedit. PE will achieve this goal by proactively engaging with our clients, writing, editing and managing the editorial content through our Talk Your Book process.

The outcomes expected of this individual are:

  • Ensure the completion of 30 Talk Your Book projects annually. You will organize, plan and manage the execution of the Talk Your Book process. This requires excellent communication skills and an ability to manage changes in timing and scope.
  • <2% of all editorial steps repeated. Guarantee editorial excellence in all manuscripts.
  • Client Experience Survey of >8.5. Assist your account team in delivering world class service and creating an “Enjoyable, Fun, and Prosperous membership experience” for each client.

  • Problem Solving Mindset. Flexible attitude to test new approaches and adjust activities in order to solve unique client challenges.
  • Teamwork. Reaches out to peers and cooperates with supervisors to establish an overall collaborative working relationship.

Preferred Skills and Experiences:

  • Minimum of three years developmental edit and line editing experience
  • Exceptional writing, editing, grammar, spelling and communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • High level of competency in Microsoft Word and Track Changes
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a highly creative and senior level clientele

Positions are in our Charleston, SC office. Team Members are eligible for benefits package after a 3 month review.
